icon What time is it in Benahavis/Spain?

Benahavís belongs to the CET time zone, or CEST during Summertime, so it is GTM+1 in Winter and GMT+2 in Summer. This way, the last weekend of October the clocks go back an hour (at 3 am it is 2 am), and the last weekend of March the clocks go forward an hour (at 2 am it is 3 am).

Although there are some shops at Benahavís, if we want to shop till we drop, at only a few minutes by car we can find Puerto Banús, that offers many designer shops, major brands and one of the best stores of El Corte Inglés of Spain. Also, in this area we will find many supermarkets and gourmet shops.

Benahavís also offers more traditional options to buy peculiar things, food and, why not, a souvenir.

Benahavís also has some important art galleries, where you will be able to admire the works of renowned artists and visit temporary exhibitions that you will surely enjoy.

 

Benahavís Flea Market

Locate at the Chapel grounds, only a few minutes from Benahavís town, on Sundays we will be able to visit and enjoy this peculiar flea market (rastro in Spanish). Focused mainly in antiques, its many stalls offer all kinds of items and products, from the above-mentioned antiques to clothes, fruit and vegetables, food, and some eateries (churros are not to be missed!). It is a wonderful choice to spend a fun packed Sunday morning, in an eclectic place and with an international public.

The shops hours are from Monday to Saturday from 9:30 to 1:30 pm, and from 4:30 to 8 pm.

Within a few kilometres you will find some shopping malls that open nonstop from 10 am to 10 pm. During Summer, shops can open some Sundays.

Pharmacies are open from 9:30 to 1:30 pm and from 4:30 to 8 pm, although in bigger cities some are open 24 hours a day. There are also emergency pharmacies that open in turns (you can find the times at the pharmacy and in the press), to offer a night service and on weekends.

Public bodies are open to the public from Monday to Friday from 8:30-9:00 am to 2-3 pm.

Benahavís is perfectly adapted to the time schedules of the tourists that visit us. That is why restaurants and bars keep their kitchen open for the most part of the day.

Spanish people tend to have their breakfast between 8 and 10 in the morning. Lunch, in restaurants, is from 12 pm to 3.30 pm. Dinner is served from 8:30 pm to 11 pm. Many bars and restaurants have a continuous service all day long, especially in cafes, and in many of those it is possible to have tapas, combined dishes, sandwiches, and rations.

Night-time in Benahavís is always special, particularly from Thursday to Sunday. Restaurants, pubs, and bars open until 2 or 3 in the morning. It is customary to have a late dinner and stay late in good company enjoying the mild temperatures of the night.
